Cara Jobson received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). Prior to law school, she attended the University of California, Santa Cruz where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies.

Ms. Jobson has worked on legal issues affecting the LGBT immigrant community for over ten years, and she worked on some of the first asylum cases in the United States based on sexual orientation. She serves as Of Counsel to NCLR on their immigration matters. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Pride Law Fund, which promotes the legal rights of the LGBT community and persons living with HIV and AIDS. Ms. Jobson also serves on the Board of Directors of Small Schools for Equity.

Ms. Jobson has successfully litigated complex cases involving constitutional issues affecting immigrants before the federal courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Ms. Jobson frequently provides trainings to community groups and non-profits on immigration law. She is a mentor attorney for the pro bono asylum program of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.

In 2009, Ms. Jobson was named a Rising Star by California Super Lawyer Magazine, honoring the best immigration lawyers in Northern California younger than 40. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state are named to the Rising Stars list.

Ms. Jobson is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of California.

Ms. Jobson has lived in El Salvador and Mexico. She attended the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, where she studied Mexican history and literature. She is fluent in Spanish.
